Southern California Writing Groups

Are you an aspiring writer or screenwriter?

Or do you just like to hang out with them?

We regularly attend two writers’ groups in Orange County which are easily accessible to everyone in Southern California. We have acquired valuable insights about the business and have been well entertained by the presenters these groups provide. Attending is a great opportunity for writers (and other creatives) to get out of the house and mingle.

Southern California Writers' Association (www.ocwriter.com) on the third Saturday of each month features professional speakers and a delightful buffet lunch at Claim Jumper in Fountain Valley. All are welcome. There is a fee of around $25 that includes a hearty meal. You can save $5 by RSVP’ing by the Tuesday before the event.

Orange County Screenwriters’ Association (www.ocscreenwriter.com) meets occasionally. All are welcome. It is free and held in the Regency South Coast Theatre in Costa Mesa. This venue allows for film clips highlighting the speaker’s work to be shown.
